Every day we breath society attempts to establish our identities through marketed media forms.
Our book says that establishing these identities in turn are propogated by outside or other identities, thus making it tough to tell what they refer to.
The article about the Ralph Lauren model is a solid example of the media attempting to form a specific identity.
It is sick that this company would post an advertisement where they are showing a model in such a state. Even though it is a representation of how the media wants to portray women, it is any number of adjectives ... sick, twisted, disgusting because females look at advertisements and believe they need to fit that mold.
Howver Boing Boing posted a comment to this advertisement that criticized it, illustrating that some chapters of society are willing to stand up for normlacy. I believe that products/companies that attempt to mold identities need to be watched. If we don't stand up and take our voice back now than it will always belong to these sick indivduals.
